Now, I haven't messed with vorpX since the Rift DK1 and I haven't tried it with S.T.A.L.K.E.R. but it's supported, might be worth a shot?

I highly recommend the AMK: Autumn Edition mod compilation for Shadow of Chernobyl since it isn't a total overhaul of the game but adds multiple fixes and gameplay tweaks for a more immersive experience. It's probably one of the best modifications to (visually) enhance the main game.
However, if you're new to the series or just want to experience vanilla with bug fixes only, apply Metacognix's Zone Reclamation Project.

For Clear Sky I recommend Sky Reclamation Project. This mod/patch is inspired by the aforementioned Zone Reclamation Project and features tons of tweaks and fixes. AtmosFear 1.3, Absolute Nature 2 and Absolute Structures provide nice visual enhancements.

As for Call of Pripyat, I would stick to Pripyat Reclamation Patch (compiled by MrSeyker from the official GSC Game World forums), AtmosFear 3, Absolute Nature 4 and Absolute Structures.

Make sure you read the included instructions first if you decide to install mods.

I would highly recommend to check out this free standalone mod for Shadow of Chernobyl: http://www.moddb.com/mods/lost-alpha

It brings back a lot of content that was promised by GSC to be featured in the game but unfortunately was cut from the release version, for example:
  • vehicles that you can drive;
  • upgradable / repairable guns and armor;
  • obligatory eating, drinking and sleeping;
  • artifact transmutation (creating new artifacts from more common ones);
  • some characters (like the Doctor from the cutscenes and Ghost, both from protagonist's stalker group) and a faction (the Sin);
  • whole areas like the legendary Red Forest, the Swamps and the Dead City (while the other levels were remade to a certain degree) and more.
It is still good old S.T.A.L.K.E.R. with that very unique haunting atmosphere (and the main story is almost the same, it's just more complete and fixes some plot holes), only made how it was meant to be from the start.

I have not 100%ed it, but spent some 150+ hours in it (reached the 4th reactor block in Chernobyl powerplant) and haven't encountered a single gamebreaking bug, so it's pretty stable too.

P.S.: Although Lost Alpha follows the story of the original Shadow of Chernobyl (Agroprom, X-18, X-16 labs, the Brain Scorcher etc.), it adds a little of its own (for example, the Sin faction storyline; the Doctor, the Guide, Ghost quests) and it might take about +10 hours more to beat.
So I would not advise playing Lost Alpha if a rushed S.T.A.L.K.E.R. playthrough is planned.

P.P.S.: There are some rumors circulating in the community that Lost Alpha is an incomplete or broken mod (which is not true). To be sure it's safe to stream and generally be aware of the game state I would advise to address the mod's devs directly or via Twitter. They are pretty open guys and maybe could even join us on the stream to give advices or comment (like it was with DX Revision devs).

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat
I would highly recommend playing COP with the misery mod on, it has a complete graphic overhaul and raised difficulties to which if you want to add the Armed Zone ( latest version ) as a weapon pack for the game it makes an awesome experience !!

My recommendations are for Call of Pripyat. First of all I recommend http://www.moddb.com/mods/atmosfear-for-call-of-pripyat (AtmosFear) for great atmosphere. I also recommend installing this cheat-mod because the game might easily break and not give you the item necessary to continue -> http://www.nexusmods.com/stalkercallofpripyat/mods/77/? This is a build-in spawn menu enabler cheat. Also don't use MISERY mod because it completely breaks the balance and makes the game absurdly hard in some situations.

Ok. This is my preferred way to play STALKER over the last 1.5 years. I have not seen anyone do this yet but it is super fun to make your own role-play scenario.

It goes like this. STALKER Call Of Pripyat + Misery mod. Put on the hardest survival and remove the storyline. (there is a option in the menu for that). Also switch radiant AI to the max area. This means when you are on the other side of map the AI will still live its life when it is not near you. This way the random encounters feel much more natural and the world will be more alive.

As the roleplay part i play as a random poor stalker who has nothing. I join with my AI buddies and follow them on their random patrols. The entire game dynamic changes alot. At that point it is all about survival. Fighting along side with your buddies, then camping somewhere in the night cooking radiated meat in order to feed yourself.

Super immersive way to play. After playing like this i don't want to go back to original easy version.

The Complete series of mods is a solid mod for all three games as it adds some nice graphic enhancements and weather other game play improvements. Misery mod for Call of Pripyat is a very interesting and difficult mod, especially effective as you have played through the game once already, however, it is a complete overhaul.

This mod will remove time limits from random/secondary quests, only works on quests you accept after installing the mod.

http://www.nexusmods.com/stalkershadowo ... /mods/40/?

The grass issue seems pretty common but the fix doesn't seem to be very easy to find, you might try:

Open user.ltx (Documents\Stalker-SHOC\) and change the line r2_sun_near_border 0.75 (or w/e number is there) and change it to 1

Installed the game again so getting all the mods:

The Zone Reclamation Project is an ongoing community-supported bug fix mod for the game "S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Shadow of Chernobyl":

Giving this graphics mod a go:

Looks pretty :o

I've played the entire series using the corresponding Complete mods because these are the "cleanest", they don't alter the storyline. I am currently playing Call of Chernobyl, which is a standalone mod for Call of Pripyat - http://www.moddb.com/mods/call-of-chernobyl. Going freeplay for now, but I'll do the story at some point.

In the future, I plan to try other mods such as Arsenal Overhaul and Misery, I hear good things about them.

I highly suggest Misery Mod for COP, it makes the game challenging, a lot more survival based and hugely entertaining. Gives alot of great aspects to the game, even a new difficulty mode called "The Black Road" where you start out essentially with no gear and have to make your way to the first safe haven entirely with a pistol and flashlight, instead of the normal full kit. It's a huge increase for the game in my opinion and I think viewers would love to see it.

I would not use the Complete mods. They're very outdated and unbalanced. I'd recommend Atmosfear 3 + the Absolute Nature/Structures texture packs for Call of Pripyat, giving you vanilla gameplay with better graphics. Alternatively SWTC (http://www.moddb.com/mods/stalker-call- ... conversion) + the same Absolute texture packs.

For SoC I would recommend Autumn Aurora 2 over Complete, but it's a bit late for that now I suppose.

Saw you chose Complete for Shadow of Chernobyl and as expected a lot of people have said Complete was bad so I thought I'd sign up here and write up generally why people think Complete is bad. It's obviously subjective but if you know why it may make you consider other mods for Clear Sky and Call of Pripyat instead. These are the main reasons:
  • Weight limits are increased globally (all suits) by 10kg making loot hoarding a lot easier
  • Sound produced by the player is severly reduced making the AI less reactive
  • Sight ranges for AI is severely reduced also making the AI less reactive
  • Weapon accuracy is globally increased making it easier to shoot accurately
  • To compensate for this damage is globally reduced (This is actually what was making you feel inaccurate on stream, you were hitting your shots but enemies just take a bunch to die with Complete mod.)
  • Scientific suits have anti-rad auto injection making item management less of a player consideration
  • Bandages auto apply at <10% health
  • A lot of the minor features it adds aren't balanced or as well implemented as in other mods
  • It's graphical enhancements are outdated and it looks nowhere near as good as other mods available now.
Those are the major things, so it's basically a difficulty consideration. Personally for me I really dislike the bullet sponge enemies and the reduction in AI awareness. STALKER is at its best when it's balls to the wall intense survival and Complete mod makes it feel more like a traditional shooter.
